High Purity Alumina Spray Dryer Working Principle

After the air is filtered and heated, it enters the air distributor at the top of the dryer and enters the drying chamber uniformly in a spiral shape.The material liquid is atomized by the high-speed centrifugal atomizer or pressure nozzle at the top of the tower into very fine mist liquid beads, and the hot air in parallel or countercurrent contact, in a very short period of time, the water evaporates rapidly, and the drying is a finished product.The finished product is continuously output from the bottom of the drying tower and in the cyclone separator, while the exhaust gases are evacuated by a fan.

(1)Air heating and filtration:The air is first filtered to remove impurities and dust, and then enters the heater to be heated to the set temperature. The heated air enters the air distributor on the top of the dryer and enters the drying chamber evenly in a spiral shape.

(2) material atomization: liquid high-purity alumina material through the feeding device is transported to the top of the dryer atomizer, the atomizer is one of the core components of the spray dryer, the common atomizer has a centrifugal atomizer and pressure atomizer two types.

Centrifugal Atomizer: After the material liquid enters the centrifugal atomizer rotating at a high speed, it is dispersed into very small mist droplets under the action of centrifugal force and thrown out from the edge of the atomizer. The size and distribution of these droplets depend on the rotational speed of the centrifugal atomizer, the structure and the nature of the material and other factors.

Pressure atomizer: the use of high-pressure pumps to pressurize the material liquid to a certain pressure, so that the material liquid to obtain high-pressure energy, when the high-pressure liquid through the nozzle, the pressure can be quickly converted into kinetic energy, so that high-speed spray and dispersed as a mist of liquid droplets.

(3) Heat exchange and drying: atomized high-purity alumina droplets and hot air in the drying room full contact, parallel or countercurrent heat exchange. As the surface area of the droplets is greatly increased, in the hot air stream, the water can be quickly evaporated in a very short period of time, so that the liquid quickly dried into solid high-purity alumina particles.

(4) Finished product collection and exhaust gas discharge: After drying, the finished particles of high purity alumina are continuously discharged from the bottom of the drying tower under the effect of gravity, and some of the finer particles will enter into the cyclone separator along with the airflow, where they will be further separated and collected, thus improving the recovery rate of the finished product. And the exhaust gas after heat exchange will be exhausted by the fan.

High Purity Alumina Spray Dryer Performance Characteristics

(1)High drying efficiency: the surface area of the material liquid is greatly increased after atomization, and in the hot air stream, 95%~98% of the water can be evaporated in an instant, which generally takes only 5~15 seconds, and it has instantaneous drying characteristics, and it can quickly transform the liquid high-purity alumina into solid powder, which greatly improves the production efficiency.

(2) Good product quality

Uniform particle size: The particle size and particle size distribution of the product can be precisely controlled by adjusting the operating conditions, such as the rotating speed of the atomizer, the temperature and flow rate of the hot air, etc., so that the particle size of the produced high-purity alumina powder is uniform and consistent, and it can satisfy the requirements for particle size in different application fields.

High purity: the production process is simplified, for the wet content of 40 ~ 80% (special materials up to 90%) of the liquid can be dried into powder products, drying does not need to be crushed and screened, reducing the production process, avoiding the impurities that may be introduced in the process of crushing and screening, thus improving the purity of the product.

Good fluidity and solubility: the product has good fluidity and solubility, which makes the high purity alumina powder more convenient in the subsequent processing and application, for example, in ceramics manufacturing, good fluidity helps the uniform filling and molding of the powder; in the field of carriers for fluorescent bodies, etc., good solubility facilitates the full mixing and reaction with other substances.

(3) convenient operation and control: according to different material characteristics and production requirements, flexible adjustment of the hot air temperature, humidity, flow rate, as well as liquid feed rate and other parameters, so as to achieve accurate control of the drying process, to ensure the stability and consistency of product quality, product size, bulk density, moisture and other indicators, within a certain range can be adjusted by changing the operating conditions, control and management are very convenient. (5) High stability of the equipment: the structure is relatively simple, mainly composed of drying tower, atomizer, heater, fan, cyclone separator and other components, there is no complex transmission device and wearing parts, reliable operation, low maintenance costs.At the same time, the equipment is better sealed, in the drying process can effectively prevent the material from contacting with the external environment, to avoid the mixing of impurities and material oxidation, to ensure the quality and stability of the product.
